yeah, forgot to post last week after we went to the doc.
Some of you might remember she was born with a hole in the walls of her heart, specifically between the lower two chambers. While we were still at Mercy, they scheduled us an appointment to see a pediatric heart specialist. at the time, eight weeks seemed a really long way off.
Someone tells you your child has a hole in their heart, you tend to want to know how much to freak out. They told us there was nothing we could do about it and to not worry too much. The hole would either get smaller and seal up, or it'd get bigger and either a) stay there forever or b) require surgery. Neither of those last two options seemed all that cool to me.
Last Tuesday, we had the appointment. Went really well. The hole is already a lot smaller than it was at the hospital. The heart doc told us it would probably be closed up in another three months, but that she didn't need to see Kaia again until she was three years old. So that's that, more or less.
She was also weighed, because they always put you through that at the doc's: 7lbs, 80z. But that was with a diaper and clothes on. I doubt she had on half a pound of baby gear, however, so it's safe to say she's up over seven pounds now. Almost doubled her weight in two months, and she's just now the size of a newborn.
She's been eating like crazy and waking up (and staying awake) at all different hours. The schedule is shot and we're both exhausted, though i'm less cognizant of it these days.
anyway, all's good. pics are over on steph's blog. you know where to find it.

Hope the surgery went as well as a surgery like that can go. Keep us posted.
